Wink Just installed the Tuff Tonneau

Just installed the Extang Tuff Tonneau III. All in all it's pretty nice. I will say that the tonneau that came from Ford on my '03 Lightning was much easier to install. The Extang cover takes longer to put on. Once you've done it once and learned the little tricks it's probably alot faster. I know I could knock it out alot quicker now. Quality seems pretty decent, and we'll see what happens to the gas mileage on the next fill up which will be this weekend.

Here's a shot of the truck with it on.

Ordered it online from Autoanything. It was $198.00 including shipping. They charged sales tax although I'm a little confused why. They shipped it from Iowa or Illinois and I'm in CA. Even with the tax it was $217.

The cheapest I could find it for locally was $299.00 plus tax, so I was pretty happy to save $100. I think it took just shy of two weeks to get to me from the day I placed the order.

.

Looks good there. Hope you see a nice increase in miles.

If what you buy has a retail outlet in CA, or if the company that you buy from has a instate presence, you have to pay tax. Look at where it was shipped from and don't be surprised if it's a CA warehouse.

Look on your State income tax form and see that Kalifornia wants you to pay tax on every internet purchase.

Hey Mart Man, I have a almost new Tuff Tonneau III replacement tarp for a 6.5 foot bed F-150. I sold my 04 Supercab and got an 05 Supercrew (long story). Anyway, I was able to modify the hardware and just buy a new shorter tarp for my Screw.

So I have this 4 month old Tuff Tonneau III tarp for a 6.5 foot bed 04/05 F-150 rolled up in a box in my garage. If you ever damage your tarp and need a replacement for real cheap, let me know!

I have the same one but it only cost me $164 with free shipping. Thinking I'm getting better fuel mileage, maybe 2 miles per tank but didn't get it for mileage!

Hope it's better than 2 miles per tank. That would really suck.

Well I filled the truck up last night and it looks like the cover gave me a 1/2 MPG better gas mileage. I would have thought it would be a little better than that, but I guess it's better than nothing. Just thought I'd report what I got.
