Body Lift question

Wandell, or anyone else,

I just read something on a site that I never realized before. It said that if you put the performance accessories 3" body lift on your truck, which appears to be one of the best kits on the market, that you can no longer use your rear bumper for towing. Has anyone run into this problem, is this true? If so, no way I am going w/ a body kit.

not sure acris24, I've probably asked a dumb question but I don't know much at all about lifts. My assumption on that would be that if you have a tow package you're alright because I think it is attached to the frame maybe. I'm just wondering how it would look if you have a tow package that is attached to something else, then you lift 3" and raise your bumper to a new location, does that mean your tow package is left sitting way down there 3" below the bumper? Seems like that would look odd.

The towing package does sit 3 inches lower because it is attached to the frame, I have a bodylift and it doesn't look terrible.... or not bad enough to bother me. I'm not sure about using the bumper for towing, probably true that you shouldn't use it for towing but if you have the towing package why would you use the bumper to tow with anyway.

Can you take pictures directly from the rear and front, and a picture of the rear wheel wells, and a picture from the side so I can see how much more the frame hangs down. I know its a lot to ask but it'd be GREATLY appreciated.

Not the greatest pictures, but will give you an idea. I have a 3" body lift and a 2" leveling kit installed. 35" tires, just to set a reference.

Right, if you install a body lift, you should not use your rear bumper to tow with. The instructions in the kit advise you of this. If you do not have a receiver hitch, you will need to install one.

No problems to date. Still don't have the gap guards installed as the truck shop said I would have to leave the truck with them for a day? I think it would only take a half hour, but they won't schedule it like that. I told them I would have to get more work done if leaving for an entire day.

Hmmm, maybe new shocks . . .
