Reaquired SCREW
Hey Gang,
I've lurked for the last couple of months and I'm about ready to spring for a SCREW. I recently came across a Ford dealer who has 3 "used" 05 SCREWs with very little miles.
So when I asked for details on how you have a used '05 w/700 miles, I was told that the vehicle had been reaquired by Ford and that a new motor was installed when the truck had ~400 miles on it. The truck was then resold through a Ford Dealer auction.
It's a sweet deal, but what do you all think about how this might affect the value of the truck long term and what will will appear if you perform a CarFax on it?
Thanks for you input.

If (1) the deal is truly 'sweet' i.e. VERY sweet (keeping in mind that you can buy a new F150 at less than dealers invoice) and (2) the new engine, or whatever, truly fixed the initial problem and (3) the dealer is being truthful. then go for it. The bottom is falling out or will fall out of the resale of these vehicles sooner or later.
MSRP on the truck was just over 40K. I can buy it for $29,500. Can't buy a new one for that.
Apparently the deal with the first owner was "engine noise". There's no obvious problem with it now and it drives fine and the motor sounds okay.
I just don't want to take a bigger hit down the road because it comes up with a "Lemon Law" record on CarFax.

New Super Crew pricing
Hello all, I am new here but have been exploring the site for a few weeks now. Great information here!
Braddog.......just FYI, I recently purchased a brand new Arizona Beige Lariat SC, pretty well loaded for $26,777+tax/title. Sticker was over 35K. Look for the add cars (loss-leaders) on the weekends. Sometimes the color selection isn't great, but the price sure is. I have bought my last 3 Fords this way. I have recently seen Lariat SC's for even less ($26,999.) but only white or black were available. This may vary depending on what part of the country you are in. I am in So Cal.
Good luck.

The truck should still have a factory warranty on it, so there should be no concern there. Ask them to throw in an extended warranty that is transferable, this will take away concerns from future buyers. This sounds like a good deal to me on an '05 (without knowing what the truck is outfitted like).
Ditto on getting the extended warranty. That price is good, not great. A lemon would have taken longer to return, but you can go to Carfax, buy the service, then run your number, then buy their insurance. Then, a year-three from now, if it did turn up as a problem your covered.
My bet is it is a good truck, I would just try to knock it down a little more.
