What mods void the Ford warrenty

I did a search and didn't come up with anything. Was going to put in a k&n airfilter and the guy at the shop told me that putting it in voids the ford warrenty. This prompted me to think about the other mods I wanted to do such as:
1. Exhaust
2. Superchip (Getting the thump when the transmission tries to find 2nd.)
3. Lift kit inches still to be determined. 245s look soooo small
4. Air intake
Thats it so far. What else could I do:

Let the flood of suggestions commence

it depends on if the ford service guys wanna be aholes or not, i may be wrong but I heard they hate warrenty work so there looking for a way out. Best thing to do is to call where you would have warrenty work done and ask if certain things would void it. Most dealerships are different.

They all void your warranty. If you don't keep the proper air pressure in your tires or the right amount of oil in the crankcase, it will void the warranty. So therefore you might start youir line of questioning from the opposite end- "What parts of the warranty are still in effect if I make a particular modification?"

The decision to can your warranty is largely dependent on the dealer. I've seen some big ticket items slide under warranty before. Dealers that are high in certain repair areas are more likely to try to find excuses not to warranty some repairs for you, since this may push them over their limits and into audit territory. Audits are bad news for dealerships.

Basically, if the mod can be found as the direct cause of the warranty claim then it can cause the warranty for that claim to be voided.

2. Superchip (Getting the thump when the transmission tries to find 2nd.)
This could case the trans to fail prematurely and will prolly void the warranty on the trans and any other claim on it from there out.

Mods don't void warranties, dealers do! If mods void warranties, then spoons made Oprah fat!

My dealer told me that only if the particular mod caused related parts to fail would I be SOL. When I asked about my autospring he told me that the front suspension if failed would come under alot of scrutiny. Guess i would have to take out the lift.........then bring it to em.

My dad is a company service rep for Jaguar, he deals with all sorts of warranty issues. IE voiding waranties. As far as any type of filters/spark plugs go, if the company (ford) does not supply you these items at no cost you can put any brand that you want in without voiding your warranty. As far as the other mods I suppose as long as that mod does not cause the defect that you will be ok. I had put a supercharger in my mustang and had an oil leak taken care of no Q's asked.
