anyone here a ford master tech? help

i have a 2005 xlt 5.4 ,once in a while i get a thud noise from under the trk when starting fom a stop its seems to be the loudest after i get off the highway then proceed from a stop.
it doesnt do it in reverse i havent had time to get it do the dealer yet

Does your thud occur only shortly after starting the engine, engaging the tranny, and moving forward or does it occur at random times?

I have the same clunck i think. At a stop light or whatever when i first start to drive off it sometimes clunks like something enganging in the rear end. Dealer did something to the rear diff but it didnt help. Said something about 18 somehting running deep.

Sounds like the slip yoke not slipping...there's a TSB on it, I think...use the search.

it does it at random times , it is fine when i first take off in the morning
i first noticed it when i got off the highway a few weeks ago after i stopped at the light i took off and i got a thud and one time driving through town it did it at every lite

I have the same issue - it is so random and infrequent I haven't said anything to the dealer because I wouldn't be able to reproduce it.

yep, sounds like the slip yoke needs regreasing.
