Billet Grill Problems
I had my billet grill installed by a local body shop about a month ago. I’m starting to notice upon closer inspection that the edges of the upper billet grill are not chrome but rather have black (what appears to be paint) on them. The body shop says this is how they come and that it is what it is. They say it’s the way the grill is cut and can’t be fixed. Do you guys have these black marks on the outside edges of your billet grill? It covers up the chrome and just looks like a lack of pride in workmanship. Is this normal or am I getting hosed? I can’t take pics b/c they’ve had the truck for two weeks now trying to repaint the bumper. Needless to say this has been a nightmare. Many thanks!
Anyone? Anyone? Bueler? Is the original billet grill black or polished metal? Can't figure if I can file it myself to get the black off the front or what? Body shop refuses to fix it...says they'll take it off and put on the OEM and refund my money...but it's not worth the effort to put a new one on myself.

I honestly don't know. The aftermarket body shop ordered it and installed it. It looks identical to those with the Carriage Works billet grill. Pics are in my gallery, just not close ups.
Mine is the stull billit grill and it has black powder coat everywhere but the front face which is polished. It is a bit of a pain to keep clean and i also had the lower one replaced due to the black powder coat flaking off.
If yours has black paint on the front face all you need todo is polish it off.
Hope this helps.

How would I go about polishing that off without scratching it or messing up the chrome outer ring? I'll take pics when I get it back tomorrow to see if it helps to analize it.

I used the mothers power ball to polish my grill and it worked great.
