Extra weight? Where?

I have been told by several people that fact that my 05 Lariat is a dog compared to my 02 XTR is due to the extra weight. Where is all this extra weight and how much weight are we talking about?

The chassis is fully boxed for one thing instead of a C-channel. There is noise dampening material that is thicker and in more locations to keep the cab quiet. The truck is physically bigger, longer and wider. The glass is a third thicker than previous years. That is a basic assessment. Overall, the new trucks are about 400 pounds heavier than the previous generation.
As for being a dog, that is why the new motor has more power. It is about equal in performance, but the quiet factor and drive by wire makes you feel like your going slow.
I went from an ext cab to a supercrew and can still spin the tires up, so mine is no slouch

Fully boxed frame, bigger brakes, wheels and tires, lots of creature comforts in higher trim trucks, more wiring and modules for said comforts, all to the tune of anywhere from 700-1000 lbs more over a previous generation F150 depending on drivetrain and cab configuration.

Quintin,,,it feels 700-1000 lbs heavier too!

I do have a few extra creature comforts but not that many. Just the subwoofer, power passenger seat (I had a power drivers before), heated seats, heated mirrors, moonroof, power sliding rear window, power Scab windows, lift assist tailgate....hmm, maybe there is a few pounds there, I never really thought about them too much until I wrote them down

wamsleyb,,,It dosen't feel like I am going slow, I am going slow. My 02 was way faster especially off the line. About the only place this truck seems to have any power is from 90-130 kph. No problem with wearing rubber out on this truck, they don't even squeak. My last truck had 3.55 gears and this one has 3.73 so it should go even faster.

^ they said it all.. It was actully kind of scary when my 2.5TON hydrolic jack had trouble lifting the front driver side of my truck... My buddies and I were installing a lift on my truck and it wouldnt jack it all the way up, and to borrow my buddies 4Ton jack.

my 2.5ton jack would like up the entire front end of my old 02 f150 Scab without a problem...

Believe me, if you ever get into an accident you will feel the extra reinforcement that Ford built into the F-150.
Take it from me, there is a few pics in my gallery.
