Motorcraft 5W20 - Autozone

Looks like Autozone has restocked their shelves with Motorcraft 5W20 again. I bought 3 cases just in case.

Thay always have it here, it's the 820 filters they never seem to have, but Advance Auto also carries Motorcraft, between the two, I can usually get what I need.

Well I read that Ford was pulling Motorcraft from all retailers including Autozone and Wally World so I actually stocked up on 4-5 cases.

Autozone has a rewards program right now. If you spend $20 or more 5 different times, you get a $20 gift card. So spend $100 and get $20 back. The catch is you have to go 5 different times and spend $20 each time. You can't spend $100 one time. They won't punch your card. Trust me, I know; I had to return it and buy it over again.

I bought (15) FL-820s from Wally World when they were clearanced down to $1.50 or something. Now I have the oil to go with it.

Auto Zone in my area never has the 820 filters either. Do I hear conspiracy?
I used the Castrol Syntec 5W20 synthetic blend. Is the Motorcraft oil they carry a blend as well??

Yes, the Motorcraft 5W20 is a syn-blend. From what I hear, it is very good quality and one of the best bargains in blended oil on the market. PS: nothing wrong with Castrol Syn Blend either.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with it, but I like the bargain part of the Motorcraft deal. The Syntec runs me $3.10 a quart...

The shorter of the two filters with the larger hole is the correct filter for the 04 3-valve. Maybe the other one is for the 04 Harley edition, which uses the old 2-valve 5.4L? I don't know?

I’m not really sure because the only filter I’ve used so far is Motorcraft FL-820S. I know what you’re talking about though because a couple of weeks ago, in Wal-Mart I was checking out the parts book and noticed they had two listings for the “Tech” brand filter. I took one of each out to compare them and noticed the difference in the hole size and body length. Your Owner’s Guide will have the correct oil filter number in it for the 4.6L
