Okay, now I'm confused. Just when I thought I was getting the hang of body versus suspension lifts...

dkm2's pic of a 3" body lift shows no separation from the bumpers. I thought the bumpers were knocked out of place a bit by a BODY lift. True? No?

I might be able to swing a 3" BODY, but a 6" SUSPENSION is just too much money for me.

Just so everyone knows if they want function as well as looks, this might not be the way to go. I find my shocks are way too soft and If I got a 3" body I'd be investing in shocks, for only a couple hundred dollars more you could get a real Pro Comp 6" lift. JMO

Most trucks do seperate a little from the body and the bumper when a body lift is added. This is because the bumper is attached to the frame and the body lift raises the body off of the frame. Most body lift kits though, have bumper relocating brakets to lift the bumper as well.
You can also get the inner wheel well linings extended so you don't see gaps inside the wheel wells

Your shocks are too soft with or without the body lift? I was wondering if the body lift affected the ride. I wouldnt THINK it would, but I am totally untruckimacated when it comes to anything other than the LOOKS Mods!

My 3" body lift was purchased and installed for $700 (with gap guards).
My 2" Spacer Lift was purchased and installed for $175.
Both the Rancho 4" and Fabtech 6" lifts were quoted to me installed for around $2500 without the coil overs.

As I got approx the same height as the Rancho provides, I saved enough to almost pay for the tires/rims.

I did not need new shocks. I agree that the stock are a bit soft, but my gripe is that the back end is squirrelly when I go over railroad tracks or speed bumps. Even with the heavier bigger tires and rims it jumps around a bit. I may invest in shocks as well. Still think it's less expensive to do the body lift and spacer though.

I don't have a body lift but personally my shocks are too soft for the stuff I go through. I'll be uprading to either the 3" Skyjacker, new Rancho adjustables, or maybe even just wait it out until I can get the 6" Fabtech lift with coilovers. A body lift doesn't effect ride at all as long as your not doing any hard(er) driving than you did before without the body lift and tires.
