Parking Brake Repair
With the suspension lift and amp research steps, they had to extend or drop with a bracket the existing parking brake line as its in the way. Well now it's over extended and I believe that is where my newfound vibe is from on the highway.
So I am trying to perform this repair, while my radiator is being welded back to health. About 20k miles ago I removed both rear rotors, was a pain in the ***, and they are fused back on there again. So I'm hammering away, I KNOCKED ONE OF THE LUGNUT STUDS inside the rotor. Still can't get the rotor off, I'm going to get a heat torch and see where it goes from there. Does anyone know if the studs are removable or do you have to replace the entire hub?
Edit: They are pressed in studs, but I am figuring a way to press them in without using an actual press.

I just did this repair yesterday myself. I agree Josiah, those rotors are rusted on pretty good! Then the pads were holding the rotor on. It took me about three hours to do both. I feel better now it is fixed. Thanks to TysonsLariat for this very helpful info.
My hubs were really easy to get off. I just took my rubber mallet and whacked a few times around the rotor. I didn't bother taking the entire brake system apart. I used some PB to clean up the levers and springs since they was covered in dirt and some rust. Then I used some spray lube on everything so it moves around better. Still need to road test it for the shakes though. I didn't think about the tension of the lift on the ebrake. I'll have to loosen that up some if I still have the shake.
Just got hit with this problem and need to dig in to get it fixed, thanks for the write up. I hadn't driven the truck for two weeks and had to really give it some gas to just get moving then it shook like jones'n crackhead to the train station and back.
I'm still under warranty but not interested in having it towed and getting the dealer run around so once again this forum saved me.

My driver's side is stuck, and the dealer said I need new pads for both parking brake sides, and a new cable from the front to the rear. They want $600 to do this job. I told them to eff off, because the parts are right at $130, so $470 in labor is a joke. They charge $75/hr., so they're saying this would be a 6.3 hour job, I THINK NOT!
I'll be buying the parts myself, and doing it myself (with more care, I'm sure). Greedy dealers should die a slow death!

My truck is out of warranty and you saved me a lot of time & money.
Both expander cams were rust welded and I followed your advice and it cured the vibration. Plus I can use the parking brake again!

Ugh! This topic has reminded me of the stupidity of my dealership. I am out of warranty and haven't used my parking brake in over three years. Now I get a clunk in the driveshaft when accelerating after letting off the gas (around 20- 30mph). I'm sure I damaged the tranny from not using the parking brake when parking on hills, etc.
Thanks, Stealth. I've heard that from somewhere and I will give it a shot once it warms up outside. It seems to make sense because the truck has low mileage and no other tranny failure symptoms. Appreciate your input.
coat of paint?
Did you think of putting a good seal coat of paint on the expander cam before re-assembly? I am going to pull mine apart next week to inspect and clean, and of course grease the slides, and thought a good primer/sealer paint coating might help.
How difficult of a job would it be to just remove the parking brakes....ill just keep a set of blocks in the bed in the event I need to stay in one spot more secure. I drive on the beach a lot and thing this will just become a reocuring issue unless I just take them out of there.
