New mounting hardware on Westin's

Westin gave me new Platinum Series nerf bars under warrantee (see pic of old bars)

I got the old bars in March of last year.
These new bars are 2" shorter and have a new style rear mounting bracket that resembles the front bracket.
The old style bracket mounted under the nerf bars and was completely rusted out.

This new style seems much better as it runs parallel with the truck...stones will never hit it and make it rusty.
I lost my old pictures of the old style rear bracket....but if you have the old style, you know what I mean.

Old bars, covered under warrantee (powder coating flaking off)

I have the chrome plated ones, just put them on last month. I didn't realize they changed the brackets.

Personally I have flaps to protect my paint and bars, I realize some people hate them, but with AT tires you just have rocks flying everywhere. Not to mention the other drivers behind you that appreciate flaps...

As much as I don't like flaps... I think I'll get some this time before winter rolls around.

But I still can't see how powder coating would flake off to the extent it was on my bars..... even on the back end of the bars.
I can see some chipping from rocks, but a pressure washer would take those bars down to stainless.

I had the same exact problem as you. My powdercoat was flaking off at the rear mount, and at the back of the bars. I also had my bars replaced under warranty, and I like how the new ones mount. I am surprise they didn't use this mounting technique in the first place. Anyhow, good post!
