Cool Latest Mod: easy/cheap OVERLAY DECAL (3rd Brake Light)

Well, it's been too long since I was able to add a mod ... even a simple one. So, I saw a new product auction on ebay for a DECAL OVERLAY to cover the RED portion of the 3rd brake light at the top of our back window. I've had a dislike for this big red b*stard since day one ... no reason ... just didn't like it. The auction pics showed three silver-ish versions (FORD oval logo, "F-150" text, and a Harley-Davidson logo). But, the auction body said that black was also available upon request. This, as many of you know, got my attention. So, I got the "F-150" text on black. The seller was very good at email, sent the item immediately, and the 'look' cost me a whopping $10. The seller's contact info is in my gallery along with a collage of BEFORE/AFTER pics.

The quick picture link is...

I thought about having him (Mark) try a longhorn to match my other oval overlays, but I think I have enough of those to make my statement.

Wow that's sweet. Didn't realize something so simple can make it look so different. I'll have to get the contact info from your gallery.

Nice truck!

Trev....soooooo TRUE...I've been trying to keep up with the total $$'s in mods I've done to my '05 SCREW (since purchasing it 2 weeks ago) and it is already in excess of $2K - and that is not wheels/tires - just intake, exhaust, and various other "must haves"......I think I have the "Mod fever" for sure

Very nice simple mod.
Looking at your truck, I really now wished I got an all glass rear window. I was looking for one but when they were searching for the specs I demanded, it only came with a manual rear slider. I didnt want one.

Looks good!

I really think its best to just throw all the reciepts into a folder, and never calculate how much you've spent.

I can't agree more. I've had solid rear glass on my last two trucks. It just looks so much cleaner. I'll never buy a slider again...

Back on topic. Does he have anything other than F150 or Ford ovals? I ask because my taste is to have less F150s/Ovals/4x4 decals and stickers on my truck. First thing I did with my truck was remove those horrid FX4 stickers off the side. Then get a more muted overlay for the ovals on the front and back.

I'll have to check ebay when I get home.

Thanks for the replies! Glad you like my least expensive mod to date.

AK Jay, feel free to email Mark (the ebay seller 1moparts) directly by using the hyperlink I provided in my gallery below the thumbnail image. He told me "if you have need for any custom decal for this truck, let me know...I can help you out." He's a graphic artist and seems to be quite ready, willing, and able to make any and all decals, etc. for our trucks.

As for the flat (non-slider) rear window, that was a REQUIREMENT for me. I saw no use for the rear window (manual/power). I can see how some folks might use it, but it was going to be a big waste of money for me. Plus, some of them tend to rattle. IMO, the more you use it, the more likely it is to rattle and/or leak. So, I made sure I didn't get it when I ordered my truck. Since the exact truck I wanted was not available via their vehicle search, I custom ordered and had it in four (4) weeks flat (back in Feb 2004).

Looks good but really cuts down on visibility IMO... When it comes to brake light attention, my policy is MORE IS BETTER.

I'm really wanting a company to step up and produce an LED 3rd like the Lightning had stock...
