Moisture hitting exhaust noise?

Hey all.. just picked up my 05 F150 XLT Scab... I noticed a lot of sizzeling coming from the bottom of the truck when I would park.. Then I started to notice the sound while I was driving. After looking into this a little futher I found that ther is moisture falling and hitting my exhaust while I am driving and when I am parked. It almost seems like an overflow hose is not routed correctly or needs to be diverted. Just curious if anyone else has run into this same thing, and how they have gone about fixing it. Figured I would take it in to the service department, but that means that I will be without the truck for at least a day which always sucks.. Anyways any info that can be given would be helpful.

Thanks

to the forum XLT23 & Congrats on the new 05

That’s the first I’ve heard about that problem. If it’s as simple as rerouting an overflow hose take a better look at it; maybe you can avoid a trip to the dealer.

Mine doesn't hit the exhaust. If the ground wasn't wet I'd crawl under mine and see how its routed.

My Scab does the same thing but I have not tried to mess with it yet.

I actually got under there the other day to see if it was something that I could tackle myself.. I am a firm believer in if you want it done right.... you know.. but when I went under there while it was still hot and doing it, I could not see where it was coming from. The exhaust is packed real tight in there up by the motor, and I could not get my hand up bast the hot exhuast to feel where it was dripping from. Figured I would see if anyone else had the same problem, and from the last post, it sounds like I am not the only one.. I wonder if it is just on a few of the models that went out.. If anyone knows the sollution please post up, if not I will post once I get it figured out.

My 05 Screw had the same problem when it was new. The service dept stated that was not unusual and does have to do with the overflow hose positioning. Didn't hear it after about the first 1000 miles though. They also said I believe it was the Mustangs last year or the year before had the same problem and Ford actually had to do a "work around" for them also.

Thumbs up

I noticed on my 04 screw that when I operate the air conditioning and park the truck, when I get out of it and close the door it will drop a large amount of water on the exhaust pipe and cause a sizzle sound. It's no big thing.

My '97 F150 had the same type of problem but worse, the condensate dripped directly onto the O2 sensor and it would fail after about 2 years. There was a TSB on the problem and they installed an extension to the outlet to direct the water away from the exhaust. Looks like Ford forgot about that one.
