For a factory wheel, the XLT

chrome wheels do look good. I actually prefer them to the optional aluminum wheels you can get on the XLT. I just gave mine a nice coat of Meguiar's wax, to shine 'em up and also help keep them clean.

BTW- does anyone else have a problem with the forum, that is having to log in each and every time you post, even though the checkbox to "remember me" is checked?

And yes, I have cookies enabled, for the originating web site. Using the Firefox browser- beats the ***** out of internet exploder.

i like the aluminums better. the standard steel look a little cheap considering the cost of the vehicle they carry.

Make sure under cookies you have Keep cookies until they expire. If set to when you close firefox, they will disappear each time. You can also go the route of having firefox remember your password for this site.

Yeah -- I like the aluminum rims better myself as well.

However, I ordered my F-150 with the standard chrome rims since they will only be on the truck for a day or two before they're yanked off and some aftermarket rims and tires are installed. I figured there was no sense in spending $400.00+ for the aluminum factory rims and the upgraded tires if all they were going to do is sit in my attic for the next 30 years!

no argument there. too bad you couldn't delete to XL steel with centre hub cap and get that credit.

Not sure what browser you're utilizing but, your cookies need to be cleared and allowed to reset. This will solve your login problem.

RP, I am using Firefox and have no problem. I was suggesting he check the other setting in Firefox which says when to get rid of the cookies, one option which is clear when closing Firefox. That would clear it every time.

With all the aftermarket rims that are put on these things there should be all kinds of aluminum XLT rims floating around out there with hardly any miles on them and that you could pick-up for a song (?).

Check with your local dealer for any "take-offs" from models they upgraded at the lot to Roush rims. Also, check with a local aftermarket seller -- they usually give the owner pennies on the dollar for the original rim and tire package, and then re-sell them at a profit!

Good points, everybody

I'm just saying that I think the factory chrome wheels look ok! Especially when shined up. They certainly shine more than any aluminum wheel out there.

My truck is a leased vehicle so I can't (and don't want to spend the $$$ to) make changes. Just pointing out that I like the wheels as Mr. Ford made 'em.

the aluminum wheels are only $100 option. I was going to put aftermarket wheels as well but figured i could sell the aluminums easier and for a little more so I thought the $100 would be a wise investment. They are growing on me though...

You can also sell your rims back to the dealership for "residual value." One of my buds got $800.00 from the dealer for his Lariat rims.

Yeah -- the rims were only $100.00, but the RWL tires you have on your truck were also an additional $325.00 upgrade for the BSW's. A good investment if your plan is/was to keep the factory rim and tire set up, but a bad investment if your intent is/was to immediately get a set of aftermarket rims and tires!

I really like Ford's aluminum rim -- it's just that I knew I was going to get either 20" or 22" rims for my truck, so I just opted for the "no cost" chrome steel wheels and Hankook (brutal!) tires.
