When should I change my oil?

"just to be safe" ... I love that! Okay guys, these trucks are NOT the trucks your dad drove years ago. We have a little something called progress and/or technology to help us out these days. So, when the manual says you can go 5000 miles, be thankful (and not so 'old school') and feel free to change it at 5000 miles. If you want to go with 3000 or 4000 or whatever, then go for it. I was a little leery at first too, but take what you can get while you can get it. Save a few bucks over the long haul. Do you really think it's going to help the life of your truck over the long haul by doing a more frequent oil change? If you don't plan on keeping your truck past those five or so years of payments, then save yourself a few bucks, take the little ol' lady to an extra night on the town, and be happy.
Im running Mobil 1 synthetic and Im going to change my oil every 5000 miles because I live on a dirt road, go offroad, and live in Florida. Im going to be more than safe I think.

Most people change oil early to make themselves feel better about the care of their vehicle. I sometimes do my oil change early on my BMW because I love changing my own oil! Makes me feel like a man
In truth, I know that oil has a lot longer life span and that I'm probably changing my oil too often. My dealer only charges $21 bucks for my FX4 Screw, and it makes me feel like I'm doing something for my truck even though I know it doesn’t need to be changed that early.
