Another vote for this option. You can read all you want but this is the BEST way to make sure it's done right.

The 2 u-bolt things at the bottom of the seat are for the UAS or Universal Anchorage System. This is the seatbelt part of the car seat that runs through the base of the car seat attaches to that. But the tether strap is supposed to go to the loops at the top of the seat so the car seat is in there solid. The strap reduces the chance of a child geting whiplash in a front collision. The tether strap anchor in my 95 Contour is on the rear deck of the car and the tether strap that came with the car seat hooks to that. I guess my biggest question is am I able to put 1 or 2 more foreward facing car seats in the back seat? I know that it wouldn't be a problem if the tether strap on the car seat didn't have to run through 2 of the loops( the reason for this is because most tether straps wont tightenen fully because the car seat is to close to where the loop is.) My friends have 2 forward facing seats so mabey I will put them in, take some pictures see if it will work and be the tester of this car seat theory.

Thanks for the help.

attaching car seats

place one seat behind the passanger seat and feed the tether stap thru the cloth belt behind the headrest then attach it to the center seat cloth belt and pull it to tighten & remove the slack, dont forget to attach the bottom tethers and so on. Now place the 2nd car set behind the drivers seat and feed the tether stap thru the cloth belt and also attach it to the middle/center seat cloth belt and pull it to tighten the belt. this creates a push/pull action of the center cloth belt and that is it.
both tether straps will be tight with no slack.
thats how i do it. dont forget to attach the other lower tether staps to the bottom of the seats and also use the car seat belts to help tie down the car seats some more. i always have my wife sit in the car seats as i pull to take out all the slack from the tether straps and the seat belts. my wife weighs 115lbs my kids weighs 15-20lbs. you do the math....

I believe roughly 97% of the manual is devoted to this topic...

guys, the LATCH only replaces use of the seatbelt. the question pertains to the tether.

ANSWER:

Route the tether through the loop behind the seat and hook it to either loop adjacent (so its one position over)

Adding additional seats would be handled the same way so multiple seats would end up sharing a loop.

Example, 2 seats, one in center and one on the right side. Center seat tether routes through center loop and hooks to loop on left or right of truck. The seat on the right routes through right tether and hooks to center loop.

the manual is not clear in this area and does lead to confusion. Most vehicles have an anchor point directly behind the car seat.

You can try the fire department but around here we send people to the police department, they have a big advertising campaign about stopping by so they can hook it up properly.
