If i'm not mistaken, you posted on here prior to picking up the trailer and supposedly, "Ford" told you, you would be ok to tow this set-up. I'm still calling BS, but I really don't think you have much to complain about here. You're towing a trailer well over your trucks "sensible" abilities. Our trucks can pull a 80K lb Semi-Trailer out of the mud.....but should it be done.....probably not. I know it feels good to feel the part of a Ford Commercial, but in reality, your taxing your truck more than it should be.

I'd say 5-6mpg is good considering your pulling that much weight, surface area, load up and down mountains.

My 30' TT BP weighing ~7500 lbs loaded gives me 9-12 mpg depending on terrain. Not too bad considering.

You can call it what you want we called the dealer and gave him the exact dry weight of the trailer and it fell with in specifications for pulling. I over loaded the trailer with accessories, food water, fishing gear, clothing etc:
any way It did well.

I suspect its the frontal area as much as the weight...
On the truck it's just at 14 foot in the air not including the vents and a.c. unit.

I just averaged 9mpg on 4 fill-ups with one tank under 8mpg. That first tank made me figure out quickly that driving with the TQconverter unlocked ment mpg goes way down. The rest of the tanks I tried to keep the TQ locked up as much as possible and all the rest were well over 9mpg. My load is a toy hauler trailer at over 7100lbs and the truck at just under 6500lbs. I would figure you're in at a similar total weight. This trip was up and down hills of the NW and before the many recent changes to the truck. I did have the 4.56 gears and exhaust in for that pull.

I would think you artillarymen, like having us grunts as your security. I know when I'm out front I like knowing I have fire support as close as the radio.
