i love my 4.6 and my predator made me love it more, but i believe that a custom tune (dyno) is the best. without proper tuning the tuner is only half the war

The Xcalibrator unleashes the power in the 4.6’s as well as the 5.4’s. The total drivability of your truck will be seriously upgraded. Up-shifts will be firm to hard depending on the amount of throttle, down shifts will be instant, throttle lag gone, you’ll go “open loop” instantly at WOT, rev-limiter is raised, speed limiter is removed, A/C compressor shuts off at 75% throttle, etc, etc, etc. You’ll be smiling ear to ear!

I recievced the paperwork a while ago (few months) from Troyer in order to begin my order for an xCalibrator. The problem I have is the truck is still so new (2000 miles) I can answer half the questions.
Does anyone know how crucial these answers are for proper tuning?
I have yet to perform an oil change...and alot of the questions are based on having the truck for some length of time.

Answer them to the best of your ability HID... as you can see, many of the questions are VERY focused on the 'racing' community and really won't apply to you.

If I wasn't sure or wasn't sure it was applicable to me, I marked it 'N/A' or something similar (can't remember exactly). I did neglect to send tire size info (just forgot it) and Anita called me the next day after faxing them to obtain that info...

In short, if the info isn't there, they'll call you hunting for it...

Will you see any gains with a 87 octane tune? I just do some towing. Not really into going real fast anymore but a little more 'get up and go' would be nice.

Three words...

HOLY CRAP YES!

I've never even run my 93 tune... Your truck turns into something TOTALLY DIFFERENT when you install the 87 tune. Seriously. The difference is unmistakable and unbelievable!!!

I haven't gone to the 93 tune because I'm scared I'm going to like it entirely too much and will have to start buying premium fuel all the time...

lol. Cool, thanks man. You have the 5.4 though, right? Wonder if the gains are as noticeable with the 4.6?

Thanks

Hey Travis...

Yep. I have the 5.4 but, I've seen numerous posts about folks reporting similar gains with the 4.6. To date, I don't recall seeing a single person that was 'displeased'. Goodness knows how much bitching we see on these boards (let's face it, there's a LOT of negativity on a FREQUENT basis). The lack of the negativity from a XCal owner (5.4 or 4.6)... well, that's no accident.

Take the plunge; it’s worth it. 93-octane rules!
