Bolt on (over) billet grill questions...

The reason I am thinking about going with bolt on is for the easy on easy off aspect of it...

*I did a search on this before posting.

Will you please post pictures of F150's with bolt on billet grills?
And tell me the brand of them, price and where you can find it.
For this front end:

Thanks!

There are many different types of both over grills. I mostly do not like them because I like the recessed look of the OE grill. but I did purchase a set of the horizontal tube type grill for the lower portion and might even install it in the upper grill after its painted black.
What type of look are you going after? There are the billet thick or thin bars, vertical and horizontal etc..

If your truck is a Lariat (like pictured above) you will be able to see the honey comb grille through just about any grille you select. If you have a black grille (XLT) it wont be as bad, but the gold grille sticks out like a sore thumb.

Not exactly sure what look I am after, that is why I wanted to see some.

I have seen some at the local dealers. They have this "Sherod" or something package and the truck is like $50k+ and it has a lot of mods already on it, including the billit grill, rims, custom interior, etc. It looks AWESOME, however, it isnt a bolt over. I was also looking for a horizontal billit grill and I have the XLT with the honey comb and was wondering HOW much would show through.

Is anyone familar with the other type that actually replaces the grill? How is installation?

BTW, Hi, Im new!

there are pics in my gallery of T-rex grilles, some are my old bolt over, then there are a few with my cutout grille. i was very happy with T-rex. more bars = less honeycomp showing through.

but Ram is right, if you have the beige honeycomb youre pretty much fubar unless you paint the grill, and that kind of defeats the purpose with a bolt over

Is that a bolt over? Over the honeycomp?

yes that one of mine is the T-rex bolt over. it has a few more bars than the carriage works and it was hard to see the original grill behind, except for the large flat part where the emblem was would reflect just a bit at certain angles and you could see it was there. eventually i went to a cut in full billet grill. now obviously i have the Mark LT grille

SSPray,

I had the same color grill as you. You will not like most bolt over grills. I was not convinced at first but was shown what it would look like from a guy down in San Antonio with three different bolt over grills. The beige honeycomb showed through on all three grills. There may be some better ones now (never saw the T-Rex before).

I finally installed a Carriage Works replacement grill and will never need to look back.

Happened to park next to an F-150 with a bolt-over billet grille out at the airport today.

From a distance, I thought it was one of the "Lobo" versions of the F-150 they are selling down here in Texas, so I walked over to get a closer look. Then I realized it was a Lariat, and the guy had just installed a bolt-over grille. I could really see the tan honeycomb grille through the billet, and thought to myself that it looked really tacky!

Note that all the ones pictured above have black honey comb grilles.
