Automatic lights

Has anyone noticed that it seems to need to be really dark before the lights will come on. In my last car and a rental we have right now the lights automatically come on in even cloudy condition. I like this because if its raining I always have my lights on. True, I am not so lazy that I won't turn them on manually (it may cause tendinitis though, I'll keep you all informed). J
Just an observation and wondered if it tweaked anyone else??????????

We had talked about this some time ago. Some guys had even adjusted the timing (but I beleive only on the pre-04). I agree, they don't come on when I would want my lights on.

Try a search for more detail.

Run a search but I am pretty sure some guys put a film or something over the sensor. It seems to work.

My lights come on when it’s overcast and at dusk too.

My lights come on much earlier than I would turn them on. Much earlier than on the Park Avenue I had or the Town Car I now have. Mine will come on when I go under several shade trees together.

I was parked with the lights shining on a wall at night and quickly turned the switch from auto to on, did this several times. Has anyone noticed that there is a difference in brightness between the two settings ?

No he is not. My dealer even mentioned it to me as I took delivery of my truck. "Now remember, if you want the maximum brightness from your lights you will want to turn them from Auto to On."

It's fairly notcieable.

Makes you wonder if it is like the reduced voltage on the daytime running lights.

doesn't make them very automatic if you still need to manually adjust them for brightness.

I don't understand how this is possible. When you turn the switch to on, it sends a signal to the relay to connect 12v to the lights. When in auto and the sensor detects darkness it sends a signal to the same relay and connects the 12v to the lights. I don't quite see how there could be a difference.

My auto headlights come on when I pull into the drive-up window at my bank. They also come on when I pull into my carport no matter how sunny it is outside.
