speaker sizes

I did a quick search, but didn't find what I wanted. What are the speaker sizes in the '04 FX4 screw? How many speakers are in the truck with the single CD system no audiophile. Thanks

I believe they are 5x7s and there is 4 of them.

If your going to upgrade go with some 6x8s.

Most 5x7 speakers have holes that will allow them to work in 6x8 holes, but some (few) do not. The true size is 6x8.

Get 5.25" components. Those fit real nice in the 5x7 opening. Or, mod it a little and wedge 6.5" components in the doors. Then get some decent aftermarket 5x7 for the rear doors for filler sound.

And to re-hash the correct answer, you have (4) 5x7 speakers.

Check my gallery for stereo install assistance. It may give you an idea of what your looking for.

I would not replace the front speakers with anything but a component speaker setup. And the rears can be replaced without any mods with any aftermarket 5x7" coaxials.

How about some suggestions of a good amp how many watts and 4 good speakers to go with it. I don't want the best/loudest in the state, just something I can hear good while cruising with the moonroof open and windows down. Thanks

Look for speakers with high sensitivity 91db+ that means you wont have to crank the volume up to get sound compared to a lower sens. level and which also means that you can get it louder without distorting, the stock HU is fine and dont worry about an amp just as yet, just try the speakers first

It all depends on how much you want to spend. IMO, the JL Audio amps are the best in the business. If your going to do the Circuit City or other retail route, check Alpine amps. They're about the best you can do at a retailer. Try a local car audio shop for the best sound and you won't be too suprised by the price compared to retailers.

I've never been impressed with Infinity speakers, though some people back them 100%. MB Quart, JL Audio, Focal, Eclipse and a hand full of others, will meet or exceed the sound you're looking for.

An amp will make the music sound SO MUCH BETTER. And the factory HU is junk compared to any aftermarket HU. You don't have to buy a HU to hook an amp to your system. Just speak to someone who will hook you up with the right amp for what you need.

Good Luck

it is 6x8, but 5x7 will sometimes fit if they have the 6x8 mount holes
