Instrument Cluster Exchange

Has anyone here tried switching instrument clusters. I was thinking of switching from the standard XLT (boring) cluster to the FX4 one. Just wondering if anyone knew the logistics of such a switch (wiring or fitment issues). Also, are there any differences between the 04 and 05 FX4 clusters. I have an 05 XLT Texas Edition Screw.

Thx in advance.

Theres no difference between the 04 and 05 clusters that I'm aware of. Many people so far have been switching out clusters for a new look. Goodluck if you do this mod!

A search of the forums should net you a great deal of info on this subject.
I switched out my STX cluster for an FX4 with very little time or trouble involved. Only real issue is getting the odometer programed to be accurate. Good luck, I'm very happy with my mod.

I swapped out my 04 fx4 cluster for an 05 fx4 cluster, There is a difference. The odometer/trip mileage/compass digits are alot bolder. I could barely read the 04 ones with glasses on. I can now read them fine after the 05 swap without glasses. It looks like they doubled the line width in the lcd.
