Question S/C Research - 2004 5.4L Engine Compared to 2003 5.4L

Hello, new to Forum.. I would first like to say I came from an Audiworld forum mentality.. they made me spoiled with the wealth of knowledge and convienience(sp). I for some reason thought I would have to give that up when I gave up my Audi TT, but reading over this forum for the last month has made me feel at home with the expert advise, and the general good spirit.. These new F150's rock dont they?
Now on to the reason I posted.. I am interested in Buying a Supercharger for my 2004 F150 5.4L, but I don't want to pay 5k for a Roush one.. I found one off a 2003 Lighting 5.4L, but I'm not sure if it will work... not only the mechanics but the chip, etc, etc..
I'm thinking I might be better off waiting a couple of months and saving the dough for the Roush kit.. Thoughts? TIA

Welcome!

The biggest difference will be the number of valves. Ford went to 3 valves per cylinder in '04, but I'm not sure if that will affect a supercharger application or not. I'm sure others here will have better info than I.

The new 5.4L 3 valve has a new intake manifold design over the 03 5.4L 2 valve. On the Lightnings the manifold is a two peice design where the supercharger makes up the upper portion of the manifold. I could be wrong but I don't think the Lightning charger will work on our setup based on the design of the two manifolds. Then there is the electronic side and there again the new body style 2004's have new design features as well. Nothing as far as chips will work from a 2003 to a 2004
