Question 33" vs 35" Tires

I need some solid advice...can 35x12.5x17 be put on an '05 without cutting or lifting truck? Having the level kit put on, but want largest tire I can safely put on without rubbing parts or tire away. Need minimal off road capabilities, just going mainly for the looks. I know the 33" tires will work, but like the look of the 35s.

i believe the 35's will rub at full turn, otherwise they are ok. I'm sure others will chime in soon with solid answers. In the meantime you could do a search for this, i saw a topic just like this a few days ago.

35's will fit with stock wheels with just a level kit. They will rub at full lock if you get an agressive pattern. Aftermarket wheels you will have to do some trimming of the inner fender well but they will NOT rub at full lock. Way better in my opinion. For the 5 mins it took to trim i like being able to turn and not rub.

My opinion 35's if you have aftermarket rims (5" BS) then get 33's.

I've researched this to the hilt ... if only adding a leveling kit, go with 35s. I'm almost ready ( $$$ ) to order my MB Motoring Razor wheels ( 18x8.5 ) and Nitto Mud Grappler 35x12.5x18 and 2" leveling kit. I'll post pics when I get it finished. I've seen lots of 33s and even with the wider tread width of a 33x12.5, there is still excessive gap between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender well. IMHO, go with the 35s ... 33s don't quite give you the best look.

Thanks for the info. I think the 35s on 9 inch wheels with the trimming is the best bet. Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Personally I would only go with 33s on a leveling kit. Sure you could cram 35s under it but you would lose all articulation when offroading and they would look wedged in the wheel wells.

Thanks....I agree with the cramming of the wheel wells completely. As for off-roading, not much of an issue, but have a few concerns of tires too big for area. 33s not too small, but didn't want huge gaps in wells to deal with. Sure wish dealers would let you look at wheels/tires on truck before you drive away!

I've seen a lot of 04's & 05's with 35"s on with the leveling kit. I agree, they look good. I havent seen any pics (or in person) of 33" with a leveling kit or a lift. Im wondering how small they look in the wheel wells.

Im about to lift my truck as well. Im waiting for Donahoe's 0-3" kit to come out. I want 33"s maybe 35"s on my truck with the Donahoe lift kit. Before I do I would love to see some pics. So I can see for myself what they would look like with this new body style.

However, it seems that a lot of people think they need huge tires to go offroad. I've had 4WD's since I was a kid. I've had some big rigs but mainly I kept them reasonable and I can honestly say that bigger is not always better. Especially on hunting trips when driving on forest service roads and the trees are taking all your paint off. I guess I was never concerned with it until I bought a new shiny truck. Anyway, I'm not knocking big trucks. They do have a purpose and they are fun. But, mainly just fun.
