sheet metal wavy on rear doors
i just got my truck out of the shop for the wavy doors. They replaced the skins and it looks great. i was worried until i saw it. It looks better that before it went in to the shop. I got it done at mchaik ford in georgetown Texas. That is where im going from now on
jmsavoy, i take all my important stuff to Haddock here in FV, off 401, acutally my dealership, Don Jenkins, ships all my stuff over there. i got the hood replaced under warranty (dont ask) and i too was skeptical. but MAN, you cannot even tell one bit that the whole front clip was repainted. i know for a fact they wetsanded everything, even cleared and wet sanded the underside of the hood. they matched the color and finish (orangepeel) PERFECTLY. i had the pad TSB done on my SCAB and now they are WORSE than before, ill be taking back to my dealer tomorrow and i can assure you they will take it down to haddock and get it done right!

What an idiot... have him run by the local BMW dealership and inspect the black 'whatever' they have sitting on the showroom floor and have him find some swirls. They're a booger but, can be removed back to perfection pending they're not too severe.
Your bodyshop guy is a bafoon.

I'm going to give them one more chance to redeem themselves before I take this matter to the next level. And by next level I mean contacting Ford Motor Company, Better Business Bureau, and 5-on-your-side news crew here in Raleigh. When I went to lunch today I noticed an orange peel effect in the paint on the new rear doors as well as everywhere they have blended paint. If I go to sell this truck, it has lost several thousand dollars worth of resale value because of this body shop and that is not acceptable to me from a customer service point of view.
I'm with RP on this one.
There is not anything in the assembly/paint process that could or will introduce scratches, swirl marks or anything else.
The vehicle is painted, and maybe a 4X4 sticker is applied. That is it.
Swrill marks are normal, someone is telling lies.

Oh yes... they do a bit of polishing on the line I believe (or at least I know some auto makers do -- maybe not ford... not sure).
Oh yeah, I'm thinking that redels meant to add 'NOT' before the word 'normal' and, despite misconception, orange peel is STANDARD EQUIPMENT on nearly all FoMoCo products. I roamed my dealership's lot recently and didn't find a SINGLE F-150 that didn't have some level of O P ... not one.
