Removing Head Rests
Removing Head Rests
My 05 Scab has the 40-20-40 bench seat. My wife has very long hair and usually puts it up in a pony tail. The headrests really get in her way. Is there a way to remove it or reverse it?
removing the headrests
Pull it up, when it stops, on one side of the mounting feet you will see a flush mounted button, look close, push it in and continue to pull up on the headrest, it will release and come out. You can put it back in when not in use, since a seat without a headrest looks kinda crap. Hope this helps.
I found the flush button. It wouldn't allow me to push in but I was able to remove it. Still cannot remove the head rests even with it removed and the other button pushed in. I'm afraid if I pull any harder I'll pull the thing apart. Next guess?

they pull straight up.
Do you see the notches on the inside of the chrome headrest support? Pushing in the button moves the lock from the notch.
Push the button in (on the top of the seat at the base of the chrome supports, its the button on the plastic ring... to make sure we're all talking about the same one)
ANd the headrest comes straight up and out. You may have to pull hard but that is the way you do it.
Give it another try (could just be very stiff) and let us know if you still have problems.
Good luck.

I pulled pretty hard and it sounded like something was going to tear in the headrest itself. I had the button depressed. It won't budge.

hmmm.... maybe you should have the dealer look at it in case something isn't quite right.
