opinions please: factory chrome wheels

Someone said they thought the factory wheels chromed-plated look pretty cool on an all-Black F150, but would look kinda dumb on a black / beige trim model. Any opinions?? I agree that chrome on an all black is a no brainer, but just not sure about the 2-tone. Anyone do it an have a pic? I wanted to get my stock rims chromed but now i think maybe it would look not so good... or not as good as stock. HELP!! No I cant afford other chrome wheels, its this or nothing.

whoever said that it would look dumb doesn't make any sense at all. People have chrome rims on all kind of cars regardless of exterior color. My dad has the 17" polished factory wheels (shines almost like chrome) on his blue/silver two-tone XLT: https://www.f150online.com/galleries...4821-84213.jpg

I think you should be fine...

Honestly, they look great and should have came this way from factory. Heres the thing why spend that much money when you could get new wheels for only a couple hundred more dollars. If your going for the stock look than its great but whatever you decide is the best because its YOUR truck.

If you're having them dipped, it should run you around $500-$600. If you are going with the actual chrome Lariat wheels, I was quoted $284 per wheel from the local dealer.

I thought I was going this route for awhile because you don't see many stock chromes. Instead, I'm leaning toward deModa 20's on Nitto 305/50/20s with a 2.5" autospring. This will be much more that going with the Lariat chromes...probably around $1500 more.

Anyway, I think you'll be happy with the stock chromes. Besides, if someone doesn't like them, they aren't making the payment...get what you want. Good luck and post us some pics when done.

On my '04, I had those wheels (ordered chrome - got polished alum.) I bought FX4 cast alum. wheels primarily because of a water collection problem. I either spent time removing it from behind the front face at the bottom or have it slung all over the clean truck the first time I drove it. The design leaves a natural catch basin between the polished front and the steel rim.

Well thats because your buying BIGGER wheels and BIGGER tires.

Now if he bought some 18"s than he could use your stock tires if you really wanted. MB Motoring sells NICE wheels for less than $230 and they are the wheels I plan on buying. So think about it, it really wouldn't be that much more if you used your stock tires.

Huh? What does wheel and tire size have to do with a design flaw that collects water, mixes it with brake dust (in large quantities) and slings it on the paint if you don't get it out before you drive the truck?
