For people who used Royal purple in the rear diff

For people who replaced their existing rear diff fluid with royal purple on the 04 F150. Did you use an oil resistve rtv gasket or a felpro gasket. I know some people have used this method to fix the slightest rear end shudder. I cannot take my truck in to the dealer cause it is past warranty.

I filled (close to 4 QT) royal purple MAX gear 75-90w and used RTV black sealant for my 9.75 rear end.

HTH!

When I had the clutch pack replaced last year to fix a shudder problem, the Ford tech sealed the cover with high temp RTV. You'd be hard pressed to find old fashioned gaskets on today's vehicles. Just about everything is sealed with silicone gaskets or RTV.
