heater controls

awile back i posted a problem (intermittant) with the controls telling the air where to come out.....defrost, vents, floor....etc. it finally only comes out the front vents no matter what. this time the dealer saw the problem and i had it in yesterday for a diagnostic. it indeed needs a new controller. thats great except they still have my truck. i asked the dealer to locate the part a week before i was supposed to take my truck into be looked at. they are getting in the part today (saturday), and i had to have enterprise pick me up after work last night to get a loaner....(no cost to me though). just thought i would vent a little.......why can't people do what they say? if they had the part there it would have been in last night! i was almost an hour later coming home then normal. got picked up about 40 minutes past my done time at work. oh well....could be worse i guess....thanks for listening....LOL

Had they already diagnosed the problem when you asked them to order the part? I wouldn't think they'd order a part before having looked at the truck.

not as far as diagnosing it fully apart. they (service mgr) saw it didn't work personally..... just thought they could plan ahead....inconvenience them and not the customer.......

Ford seems to have a problem both stocking and ordering parts. Slow orders, long delays, and policies in place that make it hard to get parts ahead.
I don't know why. I can get parts for any other breed in less than 36 hours. But it took them weeks to get a fuse panel. Seven days to get a blower motor...
And this not the only 'new model' ever made...

From: Georgia on my mind...
The place I work at has daily stock orders, so normally if the order goes out before 4 PM, it'll show up the following day sometime around noon. A lot of dealers won't order stuff in advance unless it's been paid for in advance because parts departments are under scrutiny if they have inventory laying around that isn't getting sold. There's always the chance that the customer may change their mind and go to another dealer, move, etc. We get a lot of customers from Ft. Benning, military folk that can pick up and leave at a moment's notice, so we usually don't order stuff in advance, even for warranty jobs, especially if it's oddball and/or expensive.

because Ford enjoys having Toyota kick their butt.

Are you listening Bill? Sometimes its the small things that make people buy another Ford.
