Ball joints after Autospring

After I had my autospring kit installed I noticed that the upper ball joints are at a pretty severe angle. Is this bad ? I know squat about suspension but it sure doesn't look right. I know a whole lot of people have had the leveling kit installed, has anyone had any problem with the ball joints? I apologize if this question has asked before, but I searched and could not find anything...

While I don't know your answer and thus, apologize for responding, I wanted to congratulate you on your first post. December 2001 as a register date... very impressive hold out on your first post.

congrats on your 1st post.
I am also concerned about the upper ball joints being at a severe angle with the leveling kit installed. has anyone had any failure of the ball joints? my concern is when the suspension is at full droop on uneven terrain, causing premature wear and failure.
are there replacement extreme angle joints?
anyone?

Well I feel better now, thought I was the only one worried about it. I installed the 2.5 inch daystar level kit about 2 mos ago and noticed the same extreme angles. I even heard the upper control arm hit the coil spring on a little offroading outing! Everyone on here seems to swear by this kit but I'm not sure about long term longevity of the front suspension. Long story short, I had it taken off and returned to stock. I can live with the front end rake.

I know what you mean. After I installed my daystar I noticed the same angle as well as every time I went over a speed bump my steering knuckle (top, near balljoint) would hit the coilspring. I figured worst case scenario I would have to replace the coil spring if anything would ever happen...

p.s. I remember jacking up the front end to do some work and with the front wheels off the ground the steering knuckle would touch the coil spring thus hitting every time I go over a speed bump. Take at look at your coil spring and I bet there are some wear marks from the knuckle...at least on mine there is.

I agree sal, its NOT the right way to lift it...just the cheapest. I did love the way it looked but I just dont think the frontend will last too long with all non-greaseable joints. Anyway, stock isnt so bad cause I can wail on it and not worry about it!

Is that jacked up or sitting on the ground??? You shouldnt have any angle problems with a lift kit. Does your have a diff drop down bracket? That really doesnt look right sal. Om my daystar kit the upper control arm was hitting about where you drew that arrow.

You guys need to look into limit straps for your front suspension.

That was one of the reasons I uninstalled my Autospring kit. The angles definitely look too abrupt. Time will tell though, because a lot of people have them installed.

Congrats on your first post, but are we going to have to wait till 2009 for a response?

I have the 2" Autospring and the balljoints are not at a bad angle and the rear is slightly higher than the rear.

Balljoints are cheap.............
