Ps2

So has anyone that has the center console in their truck installed a PS2 in their truck? I checked this morning and a regular PS2 fits in the center console but there is no way you'd be able to open the disk tray. I guess if worst comes to worst you could just put it in the center console with velcro and just pull it up to put the cd in, kind of crusty but it'd work. Are there any other ideas since Im using under the back seat for my subs?

Why not mount it at the bottom of the console & cut a hole to the tray can eject into the back? Or under the passenger seat?

Do you mean the back as in where the rear A/C vents are? I really wanted to keep it looking stock so no one would know it was there.

I didn't even check under the passenger seat but do you think there would be enough room? Keep in mind I don't have one of the snazzy PS2 slims but one of the bricks.

EDIT: I was thinking I could just put it flat in the bottom of the console, and than cut the hole for the tray facing the drivers side. Only problem is that the controllers will force the PS2 to sit further back and when the tray ejects you won't be able to put the CD in because the tray won't be out all the way.

Back to the drawing boards..

Just rip the PS2 apart and see how they tick. You may be able to re-locate the CD drive where ever... you don't have to keep the unit all together, you know.

Get the mini-PS2 and mount it to the underside of the top of the console lid, that way you dont hack into the whole console, just the top.

Are you sure it'd work?

I don't know how heavy the PS2 Slim is but the original is pretty damn heavy.

The new mini PS2 is about the size of a dvd case and is very light weight, it is also a toploader kinda like a cd walkman

Are they really that small!?

Does anyone have a website where you can get these things without raping me on the price?

PS: Anybody want one of those original brick of PS2 systems?

would the original one fit in the glove box? Maybe have to hack the box up a little bit so it fits, use some brackets to hold it in there, and then fab up a trim piece around it so when you open the glove box door, it looks nice and clean.

i have no plans to do this anymore... but when i was thinking about installing a ps2 in my truck, i was thinking about the floor. Right under the center of the dash near the floor. There is that plastic that hides all the guts/wires etc... behind the dash. Just take an original ps2 and cut an opening the size of the ps2's front. Then you'll have easy access to the tray, buttons and controller ports without losing any console or glove box space. Just a thought......
