Premium Gas Vs. regular -(SuperChips)

Has anyone out there switched from a premium gas to a regular and back?

If so... how did you MPG change if any?

I havent crunched the numbers on my MPG lately....

I recently switched from running premium gas(93 octane) for like 7 months, to regular 87 octane....

Like I said, I didnt really do the math, but it seemed like I got a much noticable difference in MPG with regular that premium.... I got Better with regular that premium...

Im running the super chips Hi-Perf tune, so I needed the hi octane gas, but switching back to 87 tune, seems like I got better MPG...

Any comments...

1714 Tuner here... 87 octane tune blew chunks, performance was stock-like and my MPGs went down. I'm back on the premium tune and this tank is the test tank now that the PCM has had a couple tanks to learn... I'll post the results...

Odd thing about this time with the 91+ tune is the shifting is much softer than when I first put it on... very odd. I gotta call Troyer since I had other issues with it...

I get about the same mpg with 87-octane as I do with 93-octane. If there’s a difference, it’s small. I average approximately 16mpg local driving. I’m debating weather or not to switch to 87-octane for a road trip I'm taking to TX next week.

i have noticed the same thing, when i first got my 1714 it was a bone jarring shift now its just a firm shift, also is it normal to hear a blow off sound when it shifts gears??

What is a blow off sound? Not sure what that means. I have the 1714 and I dont hear anything when it shifts. I run the 91+ tow perf tune and have my shift pressures set to stock.

That blow off sound is the belt squealing. I didnt believe it when i read about it on the forum before i bought the tuner. But after running the 87 tune for a while and then switching to the 93 octane tune, sure enough, the sound was there. ttroyer recommends the gatorback belts to eliminate the sound. For the record, i didnt see a mileage difference either.
