This thing is accurate!!
This thing is accurate!!
Anyone Lariat owners manually check their mileage computers? I've checked mine the last three tanks and it says 17.0 mpg at fill up time. When I check it with a calculator it comes out 16.997 each time! WTF? Should I go for the DSB for this .003 mpg inaccuracy?

Oh man!! Off by .003???? That is awful!!! I would go for the DSB and get rid of that POS lemon you have!
No one should tolerate having the computer off by .003!
Your lucky. I have been calculating my mileage for every fillup since new, 13000 miles ago. The computer is consistently off by about .5 mpg. I don't really care because whats the point when you are paying $50 a tank.

OK if it's so easy, then how does it know how many gallons you put in it? When my gas gage says 1/2 , I have to put in 19 gallons to fill it.

I'd imagine that rather than use the gas guage in the tank to dirive the mileage, it most likely has an inline flow meter in the gas line to tell how much gas your engine is consuming per mile. Those are much more acurage than the float type gas guages in vehicles.

How does it know the consumed amount? Where does metering occur?
Oh I forgot, it has a computer.
What an easy concept.
I am glad it's not something like,
An Injector Fuel flow quantity is x amount at y pressure for a specified duration of opening . Then you would have to sum the total duration of opening, multiply by 8 and then cross reference it on a look-up table.
I know a retard like me would not even begin to understand such a concept.
well i may be alone on this one but.... who cares what mileage your getting.
will tracking it improve it? no, we all bought trucks, big ones, not rangers. we all knew exactly what to or not to expect right?
if your monitoring it because you think your truck is messed up, right on. anything eles imo is just another way to get stressed out about something in the past thats uncontrollable.
just a thought
