Ok... about this lowered 4x4 phobia so many folks have... so are 4x4 or 'all-wheel drive' cars and SUVs useless? Why even bother making something a 4x4 if it never sees the trails or mud? I mean, what could anyone possibly want with extra traction in bad weather condions, pulling, etc... not to mention the higher resale value... yeah, he's really RUINED his truck...

I'd guess 90%+ of all 4x4 trucks sold never see real off-road conditions.

At my dealer, there's an 05 4x4 with 22s and low-profile street tires, and IMO, it looks pretty freaking cool. I was this close (imagine) to putting the same setup on my truck, at least for the non-winter months. IMO, it looked pretty sweet.
We are not comparing looks. Its the fact it is a 4X4 just close your eyes and imagine if that was on a 2wd. Looks arent the thing, its whats under the truck is the concern. His 4wd will prob start cracking seals only because it will never see "movement"

WOW! I surely didn't expect my little post to turn into such a big debate!
This isn't the first time I've read a message board and I realize that people will express their opinions if they are motivated to do so. We all love these trucks for different reasons and we all bleed Ford Blue (...I do anyway...)
To clarify what my intentions were in getting a FX3 1/2 , I wanted a vehicle that would get around in the snow here in the good ole Heartland and would look good doing it. I found a great deal on this at the dealership and I pounced on it. If I lived in Texas I would have gone with a 4X2 and been completely happy I'm sure. I have no desire to "slam" a 4X4 to the ground "Sport Truck" magazine style; I wouldn't do that to a 4X4, but I'd like a lower look. I saw that Ground Force has a 4X4 kit but I haven't seen any examples yet. Just kicking ideas around...

I appreciate everyone's opinion and look forward to "talking" with all of y'all!

DONT EVER SAY THAT AGAIN...you will only fuel his insanity. If anything, its a 4X4 and so much more!

Damn Lariat Yuppy, he'll never understand the status of the FX4

EDIT..sorry, to stay on track here, I like the truck and the rims, IMO I like a little more rubber on my tires. But it does look good.

I like it and think it looks good. I have no problem with lowered 4x4's, jacked up 2wd, or whatever. The person that does it, does it with their own personal preference in mind and the way they intend to use it. For example: If you live in a cold climate where you get a lot of snow and you need to get around and you need the truck to haul things and above all have the comfort of these new F-150's, but you never go off road....why do you need the extra ground clearance? Why not lower it and get the sporty look, better handling, and get it out of the air and get better gas mileage all while still having the traction to get where you need to??? Like was said.....they make AWD cars everyday, what's the difference? And if you intend to take your truck off road then by all means, jack that bitch up and put some big tires on it. Like I said, all about what you need it for and what you like, screw what people think.

First and foremost its your truck, and as long as you are happy thats all that matters. I like your tires and your truck looks good.

For everyone else, our trucks look great raised, lowered, whatever!

Personally i cant even decide if i want to raise the front or lower the rear to level out my truck. The only thing i know for sure is that i want it leveled.

Later Trev
