Bed recall??

New to the boards, love the trucks! I have a question though. I just bought a used F150 Lariat Screw and it is a Canadian Ford. I have been reading about some kind of bed recall but I cannot find out what exactly this recall is. When I go to Ford and put in my VIN it brings up no recalls for my truck. Could someone tell me what exactly this bed recall is?

Thanks

The only bed recall I can remember reading about was the “butyl patch recall” You can look and see for yourself if you got that problem but if your VIN didn’t pop up you’re probably OK

That recall is only for the styleside supercab with the 6.5 ft. box. All others are fine.

I beg to differ; I have a reg. cab with the 6.5' bed and I had the recall on mine for the butyl pad.

It's for regular or Supercab trucks with the 6.5' bed, depending on build date. Some trucks that have the recall activated in OASIS may not even have the pad. Supercrews are okay.

If you want, do a search here for "butyl pad" and my name. In one of those threads you will find the actual letter that was sent out to everyone that was affected. This way you can read it, compare info and see if it pertains to your truck. Hopefully it doesnt. I had to have the entire bed side replaced, and I noticed they didnt paint the bottom edge with the rubberized paint to protect it from rock chips. So now it has to go back to the body shop to get that done.

I have the letter and my brother also does the recalls for the local Ford dealer. It is for 6.5' styleside beds on vehicles produced on or before September 10, 2003. It does not show up under recalls because it is not a safety recall. The exact production date of your truck is listed on the wndow sticker. My vehicle was produced after that date but I still got the letter and had it checked out by the dealer (I suspect they felt some beds with the pad may have gotten on later production).

September '04, you mean. My truck is an April '04 built unit and it had the pad.

Mine was built September 03 and didn't have the pad. I'll recheck the paperwork Ford sent to the dealer.
