Hey guys,
Where did you mount your antenna for satalite radio?
I just recently got my 05 so i dont know much about them yet, my head is still full of knowledge of the 97-03 trucks.
Is the place for best reception still on the roof, by going out though the 3rd brake light?
Or is there a place under the dash, wiper crowl that works well?
thanks,
If anyone has any pictures that would be great...

I ran mine through the 3rd brake light. It was too easy! No leaks either.

As for the radio, I put it in the ash tray... sense I don't smoke and all.

I LOVE MY SAT RADIO!
No reception issues either, even in the basement of work's parking 6 level garage. 3 bars all the time.
Check my gallary for more pics....

What XM contoller is that? It fits perfect in there and looks great! As for the radio, I put it in the ash tray... sense I don't smoke and all.
Did you do the install yourself? I'm assuming you can close the ashtray when not in use?I need that.

Bushtree I have the same antennae as in the pic but didnt want to run it outside and risk leak. My installer ran it up thru the right side defroster opening and mounted it at base if windshield dead center INSIDE and it looks awesome..barely noticable. Sorry but dont have pic capability yet but am working on it.

Third brake light i think is the best bet. Highest point on the vehicle.
Too bad XM sucks
-XM has one sat. and is analog
-sirius has two sats and is digital, suckers!

Hate to disagree with a fellow Californian, but XM has THREE satellites, and a superior ground repeater quantities. XM is also digital.
Now to avoid completely hijacking the thread, the placement of the antenna really depends on the strength of signal where you are, or where you will drive. The best location is on the roof, since it is the highest location. Done properly, extending the antenna wire from the third brake light is not a problem. If you don't want to do that, and have fine reception with the antenna on the dash or under the cowl, by all means do it.

XM RADIO'S SATELLITE SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERED TO ORBIT
Washington D.C., March 01, 2005 -- XM Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: XMSR) announced the successful launch of its XM-3 satellite. Liftoff occurred on February 28 at 10:51 pm EST off the Sea Launch Odyssey Launch Platform in open waters of the Pacific Ocean on the equator. The XM-3 satellite was inserted into a geosynchronous transfer orbit, on its way to an orbital location for routine testing prior to placement in its final orbital position at 85 degrees West Longitude. A ground station in South Africa acquired the spacecraft's first signal an hour after liftoff, as planned.
Built by Boeing Satellite Systems, the XM-3 satellite is a Boeing 702 spacecraft, one of the most powerful satellites built today, designed to provide 18 kilowatts of total power at beginning of life. Like its sister spacecraft, XM-1 and XM-2 - also launched by Sea Launch - XM-3 will transmit more than 150 channels of digital-quality music, news, sports, talk, comedy and children's programming to subscribers nationwide.

Actually, there are 3 (THREE) XM satellites, not that we are talking about which is better or whatever....we are discussing locations for the equipment. The third XM satellite went up beginning of March, just like DAThomas9 posted. It was a publicized launch, because it was grounded on three differnt occasions and finally launched a month after it was initially was supposed to.
