Bumper Help

Some A$$HOLE hit the front of my truck last week and put a nice ding in it. At first I thought no biggie however the repair estimate is $408, The dealership has them for 377.55 + tax. Does any one know if I can do better than that, or if anyone in the metro Detroit area knows anyone who can do good bodywork.

It's a bright red bumper with foglights.

Any advise/help is appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Lightbulb INFO...

I assume a new bumper from the dealer or kartracer will be primered black. If so, you'll have to get it painted and stuff, right? At that point the price is going to swell.

I have a couple suggestions:

Check out a "re-core" or "exchanged" bumper. There are companies out there that buy damaged bumpers, repair them, primer them black, and sell them cheap. Don't get discouraged, they typically buy the bumpers that have minor damages or that are slightly bent.

Another suggestion would be to get an aftermarket bumper. Maybe even one of those big burley steel bumpers with a winch and stuff. Or even a reproduction aftermarket bumper....

Sometimes you can find some used parts on e-bay, you could check there too.
