2004 Car & Driver video

Hey all,

Here is a car and driver programme that mentions all the top four trucks for 2004. Thought you might want to take a look, its 34 MB, I'll host it until I run out of bandwidth.

Anyone ever jumped over a sand dune like those guys?

Edit: Just reduced file size, not great quality, but its just the truck section now.
Yep, I saw it months ago, but I thought other people might like to see it.

man, that was a GREAT video!!! I would love to have fun like that in that desert jumping those sand dunes!! It's so hard to believe that those guys picked a Titan over all the rest and having the F150 come in second. There reason for the Titan in frist is becuase they said it has speed??? Sorry guys, but you don't put a truck in frist place just becuase of speed!

I think they forgot to factor in the uglines of the Titan. Why do people want a 4X4 truck to be fast? Thats what SVT lightings and SRT 10's are for!

Did I say that? I just dont understand why people expect a 4X4 to have great handling and speed. Sure I guess its nice to have, but so is a truck that can actually do what a truck is made for. If you wanted to go fast then why would you buy a 4X4 that would only add more weight, none the less a truck at all. I pretty sure I can say it wouldnt be a safe idea to even try to get over to 65 mph on any type of off road condition, so what good is speed? None the less, in mud and ice wouldnt more power and less weight = less traction (aka the reason you buy a 4 wheel drive vehicle)

PS - IMO as long as my truck can get up to 65 on an entrance ramp then thats all I have to worry about. I dont ever see a need to for a 7 seconds 0 to 60 time or go beyond 75 mph. If I wanted to go to the track then I would have bought a cheap import.

I agree with fatherford...and I am in no way trying to start a flame war but, lets face it if our truck was two seconds faster in 0-60 than the Titan we'd be rubbing it in their face. I agree with the saying, "4x4 trucks aren't meant to be fast" but I also agree with the saying "Better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it" Put it this way, although we aren't driving race cars, it's nice to know that if we have to get on it, the power/speed is there. Heck, I love my truck and I only have the 4.6 and I know that there is alot more than just straight line performance when describing full sized trucks, the Titan doesn't compare to the F150 in build quality nor would I ever own one. But lets face it, we all like power and speed no matter what we're driving if that wasn't the case, the "computer chip" section of this forum wouldn't be so popular. Again, no flames intended just my opinion.

Later all!

"Our truck isn't fast, but it sure looks better and has a quieter interior!!!"

That doesn't sound very manly to me? I thought a truck is supposed to be strong, comparing the looks vs. speed doesn't seem like an argument I want to make

True the Titan is fast, but it's still a bit rough around the edges, especially interior quality. As for looks, I think the new ones with body colored grills (instead of that huge chrome deal) are kinda nice looking. That truck is Nissans first attempt, imagine what they will do in the 2nd generation of that thing once they get the interior and quality upgraded.

My FX4 is the best truck I've owned, and the only one I want right now. But after test driving my neighbors Titan, it makes my F150 feel like I left the handbrake on or something. I hope Ford decides to add a 5-speed automatic in the future, and maybe more power would be nice.

Lets see the review on the same trucks after 50k-100k miles. I know who will be on top then.

With an intake, SCtuner and a gear change. I know my FX4 will kick some serious butt.

I got the tuner and the intake is on the way via UPS. I will be getting my gears changed when polyurethane bushings become available. I will add Power Slot rotors when my brakes wear out.

I don't drag race but it sure is nice to feel the power.

It just so happens that Death Valley is one of favorite playgrounds. I probably will be doing some of the same driving. Without my wife, she panics when I do those things. Go figure, it's better than most amusement park rides that she loves.

Controversy...

I love sending clips like this to my die hard Chevy Truck owning buddies!..

My Nissan Truck owning buddy will love it. He's always parking his truck next to mine at work just so he could spark up the "whos truck looks nicer" conversations... no comparison! The F150 just looks so much better.
