Heated Mirrors ???

I was thinking about adding heated mirrors to my 04 f150. They would be OEM replacement mirrors.. Is there anything I need to worry about? Is it possible for someone to post a pic of the interior cab control and its location.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Shadled

The control is to the left of the up and down buttons on the hvac unit right behind the xm. You can see the defrost button, its right under it.

Why would you add this on your truck ?

I have it on my truck and used it once but don't think it's a feature I'd like to add .

Maybe the weather where you live is very bad but I live in Montreal and in my opinion it's not a must.

Unless they are very inexpensive and you were looking for a new project !

to each his own i guess.... i'd add it personally. I bought my truck with the heated mirrors... and i definately got my use out of them this past winter! The snow was such a pain this year... just when you thought it was over... another damn storm moved in.

I'm sure Shadled can relate as he's not too far from me and i know PA had their share this year of nasty weather!

as for location.... i have a regular cab and my defrost button is in a different location. they are set up a lil different than the ones with a center console/shifter. Mine is below the right **** of the three *****.

isnt there a way to add it on your own with out big bucks?
i was thinking about it a while back but forgot about it. if you can take apart your mirror you can probably find a way to have heat tape or strips behind the mirror. and just hook it to a stock switch you buy from ford!
I dont have much time to be a handy man so i hope some one gets on this one.

FreeBee mods are cool.

I just see this as another reason to not get out of the truck to properly remove the snow.

^^^You guys posting the Lariat and King Ranch pics, that doesn't help him out because he has the XLT model. Your button is within the electronic HVAC controls, our trucks don't have that.

here is where your switch would go shadled, right below the manual HVAC switch **** (courtesy of ShadowedFX4's pic):

haha...come on now... i have a cd player in there too. Actually, that tape player works as a good holder for a pack of gum.

Haven't tape decks gone the way of 8-tracks yet?

I have the tape deck/single CD combo too. I couldn't figure out why Ford still installs the tape deck. then they add a fancy name to it on the window sticker:

"AM/FM Stereo/Clock/Cassette/Single CD (Dual Media)"

I'll have to try using it as a gum holder!

Well here is the quick and dirty answer.. I had my driver side mirror smashed by a truck that crossed the center line. I was shoping on ebay and saw a pair of heated mirrors for cheap. But it sounds like I would need relays and stuff also, so I doubt I will go in that direction.. Here is PA we seem to get ice and freezing rain in the winter time and heated mirrors would be nice for that.. I would like to thank everyone that has posted pic and replyed to my message.

Thank you,

shadled

I'm in MD and only used mine 2 or 3 times this past winter. It is nice having them, I probably wouldn't add them if they didn't come factory, but if you get them cheap than why not.

I didn't even know our trucks came with a tape deck option.

Wow.
