Fram "Air-Hog"

Now that K&N's patent ran out, I see other manufactures jumping on the paperless type air filter wagon.
I plan on buying one when my current filter need replacement.
Wonder is there is any difference between the Fram and K&N?

My dad put one on his 2002 F-250 and he said it was a joke, now he put the K&N on.

As a general rule I stay away from anything FRAM makes.

their regular air filter aren't that bad. how much could they screw that up? won't use their oil filters. i would rather buy the k+n if i was going to shell out some cash for one of those fancy air filters.

I went with the Airaid drop in filter, their claim is that they have an extra filter media that K&N doesn't.

A superficial exam of Airaid drop-ins leads me to conclude that the xtra urethane media layer (+ 4 cotton layers) probably provides greater FILTERING, but Airaid is suspiciously quiet about FLOW RATES of their filters vis-a-vis the competition. I suspect there are some trade-offs in comparing one brand's features vs. the others.
