New Member with some problems

Hello! I’m glad to be a part of this forum. 2 weeks ago I brought a 05 XLT Supercrew 4x4 which I love to death!

It has 1,500 miles on it and it’s it has some bugs. Clutch packs needed to be replaced already, and now I have these rattles coming from the passenger side dash and the passenger front door. I don’t want to take it to the dealer, I don’t trust anyone to rip anything apart in my truck to find them. Does anyone know where to look first where the rattles might be coming from on the dash? On a topic of rattles, the front suspension has this clunking sound coming from the passenger tire over minor bumps and pulling out of the driveway. That I might take to the dealer for, but inside rattles I will try to fix myself if anyone knows how too?

Hello XLT and welcome to the gang! I would really recommend you take it back to the dealer for the rattles. Since its so new they will take care of it. I tried to fix the sliding window rattle in mine and the back seat is a bit@# to get out. My dealer fixed in in ten minutes...loose clip for pwr slider motor. Good luck and enjoy your ride!

Welcome to the site and good luck with the new truck!

I have never heard of these particular problems other than of course the clutch packs. So I'd have to agree, I'd take it into the dealer and let them fix it. Either that or just turn up the music!

You paid good money, take it back, and use your warranty while it is valid. They owe it to you to fix any problems.

Your best bet is to take it in and let the dealer work on it. That's what your warranty is for. Let the dealer worry about it.

Sometimes it doesn't take much for a warranty to be voided. Especially if the dealership discovers you've been trying to fix things yourself. If you don't trust the dealership you bought from, if possible, find another. As rural as VT is I've got 5 Ford dealerships all within 45 minutes. Fortunately my dealer is top notch .

Good luck and welcome to the site.

Welcome to the fourm XLTSUPER!! I've had my share of problems with a number of rattles in the cab of my truck. Took it to a few dealers in town, but must came back to me and said "I don't hear it" My guess it that they didn't want to deal with the pain of trying to find where the rattles are coming from. On your passenger door, thers 2 things that might be causing ur rattle. Where the door panel meets the metal on the door, on mine at least when u push on the door you can feel the door panel feel loose. My cure to that rattle was a folded up a peaice of paper and stuck it inbetween the door panel on the metal on the door and it's been fixed every since. It just needed a little bit more of a tight feeling to stop that rattle. Next guess on ur door is where your power locks and windows are. If you pop that small area up where the power windows and locks sit at, there a bunch of wires that are underneath it connected to your power windows and locks. On my truck, the wires were rattling againest the plastic right underneath where the window switches are. My cure for that was I brought some felt, and put the felt under the wires so the wires would not rattle againest the plastic. It works!
As far as your tire clunking sound in ur passengerside tire. I have the same darn thing, but on my drivers side. I did take it to the dealer, but they told me it's normal. I doubt it though.
Goodluck with the truck and I hope you can get rid of those rattles!

I tend to agree with BEW...

Warranty is something that's figured into every new vehicle price. They anticipate you coming back a few times to get rid of a bug or two.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the clutch packs (a seemingly common problem) bit you as well...

It's always painful to know that someone is wrenching on your new ride but, try to rest a little bit easier knowing that the majority of the folks who take their trucks' in for warranty work get a good result at the end of the procedure.

Best of luck and welcome to f150online.com! We're glad to have you here!

Thank you for the welcome! and Thank you for the help your giving me!

TritonXLT, How did you pop that part off the door where the power windows are to get to the wires? Thanks for the help Triton, I took a look at my door panel after reading about it and it does seem to feel loose. I'm going to try to do what you did, but I need to know you get that part off the door?

Okay, I'm not to sure how everyone else pops them off, but I believe it's held in by 4 clips if I'm not mistaken. All I did with mine was get a flat head screwdriver and stick it inbetween the to two peices of plastic and just pry down and it should pop up, BUT, be VERY carful you do not scratch the plastic on the door panel! This is very very easily scrached as I learend the frist time I tried to pop mine off. You got pretty much a brand new truck. If I were you, let the dealers get a hold of your truck, that way if they mess anything up, they have to pay to fix it. Goodluck!
