Lowering Back
Lowering Back
I would like to lower the back of my 2004 F150 to be even with the front.
Has anyone done this?
Could you let me know what’s involved and the cost associated with it.

I used the 2" Ground Force shackles to lower the rear of my truck. The Ground Force shackles come with the pinion angle shims and cost about $80. DJM also sells a 2" shackle w/o the shims. The DJM's are cheaper but I dont know how much. Some have used the DJM with no problems and some have developed a slight vibe with them. I say spend the extra $$$ and do it right.

The brand of shackle, whether it’s Belltech, Ground Force, DJM, etc, has nothing to do with the perceived vibration some trucks have. If you are only dropping 2” to level the truck, you may or may not need to shim the pinion angle. Lowering the rear with drop shackles in essence raises the differential therefore to restore the factory angle you shim between the axle and leaf spring to bring the front of the pumpkin down.
