go gears next.

its one item that will give you a performance boost without directly affecting the engine (other than increased RPMs)

yeah, i was thinking about the gears mainly because of the larger tires i have and also no matter how much hp you get out of the engine, you gotta have a way to transfer it to the pavement

well if its gonna be gears, which would be best, the 4.10 or the 4.56?? ive read plenty of threads on the subject and am leaning towards the 4.56 since i only do minimal long trips(interstate) of maybe once a month but i put a lot of around town miles on it...as far as gas mileage goes. i also know that it has a lot quicker acceleration, any other positives or negatives i should be looking for?

Gears, then the Whipple!

I am in a similar situation with larger (33 inch) tires and my stock 3.73 gears, which make this truck a dog off the line. I am tninking of going to a 4.10 or 4.56 but still have not decided.

BTW- If you do a search on the gear issue, you will find a very informative thread about gearing and the actual rpm changes at different speeds with the 4.10 and the 4.56 gears.

I have done my homework but I still can't make a decision.
