Well stated , Chris. No - I've not driven a Mack. I just pull my 24' boat, throw my hunting stuff, fishing stuff, my dog kennel and general stuff in the back. For over 30 years. My truck MSRP was into the upper 30's, and if the cost of tranny improvements is the only obstacle to acheiving the benefits you stated... well, that might explain it all.

I understand yor logic - but the pricce of our Ford trucks have to remain within reach of the average consumer. I think economies might prevent Ford from offering these benefits on a mass scale, despite the advantages. I'm not arguing your point, or trying to de-rail this thread. But, how much more can Ford increase the price to acheive nirvana?? {And dont get me started on the effect of rising gas prices on affordability }

Thanks for the lesson on gear ratios folks... haven't given it much thought before
