Solution to Steering Wheel Shimmy/Vibration

Hey guys, I might have a possible solution to all of our steering wheel troubles. I found on another site from a mechanic with the same issues. His fix was to adjust the preload on the rack and pinion system. There is a large nut like washer on the front of the rack directly inline with the steering shaft. Tighten it down all the way and back it off a quarter turn. I've got an appointment tomorrow with the dealer to try it out. Anyone had luck with this or know what I'm talking about!?? It's worth a shot!!!!!!!

There's a revised rack and pinion that already has a slightly tighter preload set between the rack and pinion gear for steering wheel nibble concerns.

And where do we get a wrench big enough for that nut?

This revised rack...do you have a part number on it or any type of information? Is ford aware of this new rack?

I don't have all the details yet, but as soon as they get it adjusted or look into it, I'll let you know how it turns out.
