Question PCM and Battery

Question:

If I got my PCM reflashed a few months ago, and I disconnected the battery last week, will the PCM reset to the original software?

I would assume it wouldn't. That it would be just like if you unplugged your computer, you'd still have Windows and stuff on it.

It's just that it's been acting like it used to before the reflash a few months ago and I don't know why, or if it's all in my head.

Nope, it doens't go back to stock... it's non-volitle memory. IE, when the power goes away it doesn't lose its memory.

That's what I figured. It just seems to have that lag back a bit when I accelerate again. I could be dreaming it.

By the way, when are you going to get a new non-Christmas signature? It's spring time now.

Your computer will, however, have to relearn your driving style and such.

Thus, you may notice a considerable difference in shift quality, acceleration, etc... it's perfectly normal.

So you're saying it will self-correct?

This damn truck hasn't relearned my driving habits. I'm really starting to think that there may be some connection to the PCM and the battery because it started driving the way it did before I got the reflash, right after I disconnected the battery.

Does anyone know if there are any new memory upgrades out there since I had it reflashed about six months ago? I may request another.

Guigster,

I'm living the same story. Don't know what to do about it either. Maybe a tuner is the only way to get the thing to shift/run as peppy as we'd like for it to.

There's no way to be certain whether or not a later calibration for your truck exists without hooking it to Ford's scan tool and seeing. I think there should be another one though, for a rough idle concern.
