stx windows
I think your asking about pictures of the switches, or covering the infamous Hole in the Door?
http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gall...&albumid=12616
is my method. Your method may vary.
Mine are center mounted switches, with express up/down on both windows.
If you swapped the panels, it would be impossible to tell they were not stock without yanking the panels...

I did a power window and lock installation on my STX this weekend and used ChrisAdams installation method for the window switches. I removed the coin holder and installed the lock switch in that hole. It was a nice clean way to handle the switchs with a minimum of cutting and I only had to run 4 wires to each door.

Looks good jr105, but my wife saw me looking at the picture, and said, "That's not our truck, is it?" Do look kinda similar..

Is that a power window switch where I put my cell phone mount?
how did you match the black plastic?
Also, on the windows, did you do the 5-20 dollar express up down mod also?
After weeks with express up and down I think it's the best 5 buck mod I have put in the truck, with the exeption of the tailgate power lock.
I think I have added 300 lbs to my truck since I got it, but still happy with the mods.

Hi HamRadio. Neat mod.
(Time for a crass comercial misuse of the forum:
Anybody else want to do Hamradio's mod, check my classified. I have the switches (like his, but black and silver out of a Ford) and the power window kit to duplicate his mod, in my classified adds.)
End commercial.
So Hamradio, How well does it work? Can you power it from the front, or is it just for the kids in the back?
And what kind of internal motors did you do use?
Thanks
Chris

They are the original Ford units that go into the XLT and above. Price was I think about $90 for one side and $72 for the other. Not sure why the price difference over left and right as they look the same. They directly replace the original manual regulators that were hidden inside the doors. I ran power from the fuse panel through to the door where the speaker wires came in. I have not run switches up front yet as I am contemplating doing the front doors too. Thats another project down the road a bit. The motors are part of the new regulators. They work GREAT and very smooth. No kids in back, that was long ago.
Hi Chris
The switch to the left, where the coin holder goes, is the door lock switch. For the black plastic material I used a divider that comes with plastic bins that they have where I work and cut a 2 3/16" disc out of it. Luckily they have the same textured finish. To mount it I used 1/4" spacers and double sided tape.
I didn't go for the express option or the tailgate, though they would be nice to have. Maybe a future project. The wife says I,m nickle and diming us to death with the line-x, tonneau, mudguards, and now the PW/PL. I say if you can't play with your toys whats the point of having them.

My wife just doesn't like anything complicated. I keep the price down, so she doesn't complain there. Much...
I put in express up and down for 5.00 bucks total, so that wasn't too bad. Took about an hour, after I got the four modules at the wrecking yard, and cleaned them up.
I had to add the tailgate lock, because my wife never remembered to manually lock the tailgate after shopping.
With the Fold-a-Cover I didn't attach the piece that secures the tailgate to the tonneau, as I wanted to be able to drop the tailgate whenever I wanted, without having to get the key for the tonneau. By adding a power lock to the tailgate, and hooking it to the door lock circuit I eliminated her leaving it unlocked. Cost about 5.00, one door lock actuator and some sheetmetal and wires.
I'm thinking of adding a switch like you used, but don't know where to put it as I have my cell phone mount there. Gotta be someplace else that's easy for driver and passenger to reach.
