First road trip

Being that my work is only about 5 miles away from where I live I don't get to spend a large amount of time in my truck, as a result I guess I didn't realize how nice my truck was. However, after going on a ski trip last weekend to Big Bear (about 300 miles roundtrip) I can honestly say I love this truck. I admit, at times I was a little bummed, because I thought it lacked the 'get up and go' that I wanted, but there is soooo much more to a vehicle than just it's straight line acceleration(especially in a truck). It road smoother than another vehicle I've ever owned and gas mileage wasn't bad either. Already planning the next trip...Vegas!

I had the same experience. After about a month of having the truck, I had a family memeber pass away, well, instead of paying nearly $1000 and over for a plane ticket, I decided to drive the 1200 miles. I have driven this many times, but not as comfortable and as pleasing as I did in my new truck. They are awsome and especially on road trips.

I think these trucks have excellent highway manners.

I also find no lack of passing power at highway speed.

Pit,

My situation is the same as yours. I also live about 5 miles away but, when I hit the open highway up to the lake I love it.

We drive from PDX-SLC 'bout 3-4x a year and I agree; the highway manners of my '04 4x4 Screw is fantastic. Zero complaints.

Steve,

You got it...I've the 4.6. I ended up getting around 18mpg on this trip, but keep in mind that was all freeway driving. In the city, I'll usually average 14-15.

only 18 highway - How fast? 14 - 15 avg that is the same as i get with the 5.4... that is with a big climb both ways.

SLC nitzer280, I hope that is for the best snow in the world

6 world class ski resorts in 30 mile for SLC... can't bet it.

Around Christmas I drove from Ohio to Georgia and back in snow through KY mountains and averaged 20mpg with the 5.4.

I set the cruise to 75 and the truck stayed around 2000-2500 RPM and just glided through the mountains.

Acticus -
I had the cruise set around 75mph on the flats and didn't push it once I got into the steeper elevation.
