Rear axle whine TSB update

The latest and greatest TSB for upgraded parts to fix rear axle whine concerns are expected to be available at the dealer level the week of March 21. This bulletin is to service the 8.8" and 9.75" rear axles in '04+ F150s, and Visteon independent rear axles in Exploders, Mountaineers, Aviators, Navigators and Expeditions. I'll post more info as I get it.

Quintin,

Do you have the new TSB number for the rear axle whine? I have a 2005 F150 that has the whine between 25-45mph. Is this TSB the ring and pinion fix?

Thanks.

I don't recall the TSB number but I took mine in for a whine between 35 & 55 when there is no pressure either speeding up or slowing down. They ordered the kit (ring, pinion seals berarings, shims, etc) and it has been backordered from the supplier. It is supposed to be available May 23rd. It is apparently a supplier problem according to the computer. I'll just turn up the radio until the parts are available.

I had ring and pinion replaced at 5000 mi. The whine came back at 10,000 mi. so the dealer replaced the entire axle assembly. The whine is still there. I am now told the noise is "normal." I now have 21,000 mi. Noise is still there. I just turn up the radio and ignore the noise. I won't get a limited slip diff. again.
