New Component Speakers Installed

Well I finally have my new Polk MMC 5250 component speakers installed.
The passeneger side is perfect as you can see below.

However the drivers side the installer missed the mark by just a bit as you can see in the pic below.

You can see the full size pics in my gallery.

The good news is the Polks are awesome.

The metra kit was a waste of time and money as it didnt fit anywhere it was suppossed to. For anyone that is thinking about installing speakers just by 1/4" plexi and make your own adapters using your stock speaker as a template.

The bad news is I have to replace the drivers door panel which will be at least $300. The installer is a very good friend so I am trying to do this the cheapest way possible as i do not want to burn my bridges. I have allready checked with ebay and checked ford parts network. Anyone know of another place i should try and find a replacement door panel.
Thanks Trev

P.S. Even with the screwed up install i am very happy with the difference in sound.

Nice Truck

Nice truck.....I got an Air Raid intake but did not do the spacer. Do you try the spacer before or together--notice any difference if you did do them separately?

Nice door handles...who did you get them through?

Tpipe I installed the airraid and throtle body spacer at the same time as installed the ram air hood. So the only comparison was with and without. I did notcie a differnce with all of them installed compared to stock.
As for the door handles i just finished the post about that with the info there.

KP SCAB I have the audiophile setup so I am currently running with all the factory equipment. Only thing i changed was the front and rear speakers.
I am thinking about getting an amp, but im not to sure i will need it as my system seems to be loud enough now.

Later Guys.

KP SCAB the hardest part of the install is removing the door panel and reinstalling it. As for the speakers themselves we just removed the factory ones and used the metra (dont use it) adapter kit mentioned above to install the new mid range speaker in. As you can see we installed the Tweeter in the upper portion of the door panel as there was alot of room there and they seem to sound better there (just make sure you measure twice and cut once. The crossover was just placed inside the door between the insulation and the inner door panel beside the factory speaker location. We had to splice the factory speaker wiring harness to the crossover.

I will post some pics in my gallery after I build some proper mounting plates for the Mid Range speakers as the metra ones suck. I am using my factory speaker as a template for the 1/4" plexiglass plate.

Hope this helps.
